Cap Is Back...And He's Pissed!

Uh-oh, somebody is going to get a beat-down...

Knew this was going to happen.

Edit: actually, I quite naively thought Steve Rogers was dead forever. no, not even that thing where they put his body back in ice convinced me otherwise<----true comic fan

  1. It's the Red Skrull, I tell you!

  2. I bet it's from Alex Ross's Invaders project. Where the 1940's Cap comes forward in time.

  3. you've been saying this for a while and I didn't believe you.

but I think maybe you're right.

it's that gun that's the giveaway. superheroes don't use guns.

except the Punisher. and Cable. Tho I think in Cable's case it's like those fake laser guns like in GI Joe

  6. It's Barry Allen in Cap's costume. You can tell by the little wings on the side of his head.

  7. Why would Cap hate on his homey Bucky?

This issue is gonna be 22 pages of them chilling at a bar and talking about what new jazz record came out.

  8. I think that's more likely to be a Red Skrull-run perversion of Steve than Steve in his right mind. It'd make for a nice counterpoint to the Winter Soldier story if Steve was out of control and Bucky had to redeem him. Or maybe it's a clone.

  9. "This issue is gonna be 22 pages of them chilling at a bar and talking about what new jazz record came out."

the scary thing is that the way covers are so misleading sometimes, that could totally happen.

  10. I have faith in Brubaker. The man is a saint in my eyes.

  11. I'd be really surprised if this is Steve Rogers, in his right mind or not. I think there's a slightly greater possibility that it's the Avengers/Invaders Cap, but I'm guessing that it's a totally different replacement Cap--probably a part of the Red Skull's master plan.

  12. seeing the red skull bring back cap as the main nemesis for bucky as the new cap would be a good issue seller- god knows that covers gonna have nothing to do with the inside.

but the genius of the marketing is even after ive realised that ive still gotta buy it because of the cover!

damn youse marvel, i have bills to pay ya know!

  13. Agree with others -- it's prob either the time-traveled Cap from the A/I maxi-series, a clone related to Red Skull's plot, or a Skrull. Will the A/I event start by the end of June? I assume that's when Cap #39 would be due. Also not sure if Secret Invasion will intrude on Cap's book, but I wouldn't be too surprised.

  14. Dream sequence?

The evil, racist Cap from the 50's?

    Funhouse mirror, perhaps?

Total swerve that was released only to increase orders?

  17. Oh my lord, who actually, seriously believes that what happens (a) on the cover or (b) the last panel of a comic book is "for real?"

  18. Yeah, he's coming back, but I'm guessing this ain't it.

  19. I'm going with Skrull.

The solicits for Secret Invasion already said that Cap was back, and I have to believe that not even Marvel would be quite so stupid as to have Skrull Cap, A/I Cap, resurrected Cap and Bucky Cap runnig around at the same time.

    I have to believe that.

  20. I think the choice is clear: Swap JSA for Captain America on my pull list!

  21. If I had to guess I would say that the one with a gun is a skrull disguised as Bucky-captain America.

And the old-school Cap is the REAL Bucky come to take back his rightful place as the new Steve Rogers

  22. I'm going to ahead and guess that no Skrulls will be involved in Bru's Cap run because there's no Secret Invasion banner and Brubaker is telling his own totally separate story. Skrulls out of nowhere would be uncharacteristically cheap.
