It's like God created this show. I mean, directly, from whole cloth.

And lo, George Lucas saw the Special and said "I know, I'll make Luke and Leia brother and sister!"
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
Also, I find those lady Stormtroopers both sinister and oddly sexy.
Ooh! Luke and Leia being played by a brother and sister? That's just plain creepy! Wait a sec...
ReplyDeleteThat is better than anything I have ever seen ever. How is it possible I did not know about that or have a bootleg copy? I'm ashamed of myself.
ReplyDeleteHoly. Crap.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes.... I was once a fan of the Donny and Marie Show. (Hey, I was six at the time.)
ReplyDeleteMany years later, I discovered a trove of old MAD Magazines at a garage sale, including #200, which includes the satire of the show. I busted a gut laughing!
If you really want to see the nadir of 70s Variety Shows, go check out the pilot of the Brady Bunch Variety Hour, by Sid and Marty Krofft. (Yes, as in "Krofft Super Show".)
Thankfully, my employer has disabled any video links, so my retinas have been spared.
Instead, I'll just pop in my DVD of the Muppet Show. Or maybe stage "The Force and I" from MAD Magazine...
Not sure if my last post went show. Was this from Donny and Marie's series or some other special.
ReplyDeleteI didn't finish it. I just couldn't. The dubbing was way off and, "ugh."...just "Ugh!"
ReplyDeleteYou know, if I'd seen this when it was new, I might have had a crush on Marie Osmond instead of Carrie Fisher.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think Anthony Daniels could sound embarrassed.
