I saw this over the weekend and PASSED OUT at the awesomeness. If you've ever seen Friday Night Lights, you might agree that Taylor Kitsch can play the badass character with issues. Of course, he will probably have verrry limited screen time, but here's hoping they get Gambit right!
I'm not in a position to say whether he's hot or not (although my wife certainly loves him), but Kitsch is great - and I mean really, really, great - in Friday Night Lights.
I have no opinion other than that I believe the character of Gambit is symbolic of everything that was wrong with Marvel (and comics in general) in the 90s. Which is not to say that I won't enjoy the character in the context of the movie. It may still be a good story.
I don't think it's the greatest picture but I saw the footage from Comic-Con for the brief time it was posted and, in motion, I thought he looked pretty kick-ass. I know there's been talk of spinning Ryan Reynold's Deadpool off but I could see a Gambit film, too, if what I saw resonates with enough people.
Ya, I caught him on someones digital camera when they went to the preview at a Con. I remember my hand was on my face staring at my computer. Liev Schreiber(spelling?) as Wolverine was neat, I think I saw Emma, Blob was neat, and then, in the middle of the trailer it goes. You know, the kind of transition and then a boom. Well, when I saw the grunge-rock lookin guy in a trenchcoat throw a card at the screen, me and the crowd lost our nerd-cookies! Man, O'Buddha that was awesome!
On another note, I wonder, if it is Emma, if through her ability combined with Logan's old memories, we'll get to see his life in flashbacks! Man, James Howlett, and, "OH!", him during WWII! That could tie into the whole Captain America sighting and the Avengers build up Marvel has planned out with the rest of the films in 2010!! Pumped for Marvel flicks again? You bet I frickin' am. How 'bout you?!

ReplyDeleteMy fanboy lights come on and I say: Why the hell would Gambit be in a Wolverine movie? He's not exactly integral to the Wolvie mythology.
