Occasional Superheroine SDCC Meet-Up!

Okay all,

I'm not sure it will be as cool as the Pop Candy SDCC meet-up -- but I still think it could be awesome if we tried!

I'm thinking of holding it @12:00 on Sunday after the "Women Of Marvel" panel I'm on, which is being held from 10:30-11:30 at room 6A. (If you would like to sit-in on the panel beforehand -- that would be awesome too!)

From there we could choose a place to eat and hang-out for lunch! Or we could just roam the convention center and buy awesome crap & talk about comix! Or -- both!

If anybody is interested, please let me know so I can get a head count going and figure this out<----super-prepared

  1. For what its worth I'd have loved to show up for this, but seeing as I'm currently about 4000 miles away (give or take) I don't think I'll be able to make it lol.

    Have fun though :D

  3. Val,

I (sadly) will not be a SDCC, but I did want to congratulate you on your up coming writing gig with Marvel (I'll be buying it). It's nice to see someone with talent overcome some rough patches in life and come out smelling like a rose.

I have to wait yet another year to finally attend my first SCDD (I wish I could be there for the Dave Steven's Tribute Panel also)so I'll just say "Hoist a glass for me." and say I'll be there in spirit.

    Have fun!

Wow Val, that will be awesome. I'm only at the con on Thursday (long story) so I can't make it, but I'm sure it will be a fun time for all!

I hope your panel is packed-- whether you realize it or not, you inspire a lot of people out there. Would love to get the chance to meet you sometime.

    Have fun at SDCC!

  5. Having done something similar (brunch meetings with the Disney comics listserv), I suggest you select a restaurant ahead of time, say, on Saturday. (Once you get your head count. Add four to the number in case anyone else shows up.)

Were *I* planning a meet-up, I'd have it over at Bali Hai on Shelter Island.

Oh, and make sure you get people's cell phone numbers, in case they end up missing at Noon.

  6. Is it possible to book a spot for next year? Obviously I won't be around for the OSSDCCGT this year.

  7. Aww, I wish I could join you guys!

Have an excellent convention. I'll be dancing like a folk monkey in upstate, NY!

Trade you some swag for a CD of the latest folk heroes? ;)

I've always wanted to get to SDCC, but my wife is not enough of a "Doctor Girlfriend" to allow me to do that! We did go to San Diego around July 4 last year on a vacation, so she took a picture of me looking sad under a ComicCon banner on the street.

  9. Oops... I don't think I signed in for my comment. And now I'm afraid of double posting it. Damn you, Internet Technology for damning me to Comment Purgatory!

  11. I'm out, too, as I'm just going Friday. But break a leg at the WIM panel and have a good meet!

  12. I would totally suggest the Corvette Diner if I didn't have a sneaking suspicion it would be packed to the eyelids all weekend. I think the last time I went there was for my 16th birthday, and they have a hamburger with peanut butter on it. If that's sort of what you're looking for.

  13. Hey... Val... does this mean you'll be having a similar swar-ay at NYCC?

Maybe a midnight diner confab? (Since it is New York...)

  14. totally semi unrelated but i wanted to really say congrats on the cloak and dagger gig. oddly enough i've been working on a pitch to revamp the characters myself..great minds think alike i guess. really i'll be picking it up for sure. i'be been reading this blog for way too long to admit and i'm a fan.i mean you're partially responsible for me really making the push into trying to get a career iin comics..though my method is spotty at best..but still its never easy to try something new. so it makes me happy to see something i was going to make the push for fall into good capable hands.

good luck...now i must get back to toiling in the salt mines or whatever random cliche thing.

  16. You're doing Cloak and Dagger? There's gonna be a new Cloak and Dagger series? Fuckin' sweet!
Make sure you plug it lots or I'll miss when it gets released as I don't follow much Marvel.
