Okay, I'm staring at my
Diamond Shipping List for November 9th, and, other than "Omega The Unknown" #2, I'm sort of at a loss.
It's not that the books listed are bad -- it's just that they aren't books I collect on a regular basis and I'm unsure where my hard-earned cash should go to (though there are always shoes...)
Help me out here, people. Any suggestions?
Immortal Iron Fist is a no-brainer for me. It's the only Marvel title I read.
ReplyDeleteOther than that I'm getting Y:the last man but that's it for me. Not much coming out this week that I read for once.
Criminal's second arc wraps up this week.
ReplyDeleteIRON FISSSSSSTTTTTTSSSSS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGroo.
ReplyDeleteIron Fist remains one of the best books coming out right now, as mentionned.
ReplyDeleteAnnihilation: Conquest is not as strong as the original, but still has lots of potential for space-opera fun.
Super-Villain Team Up has been a lot of fun too, but it's mostly done (I think).
Sparse week. Buy a trade. Or some shoes.
Yeah, what everyone said: Immortal Iron Fist is where it's at for the cool kids.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, yeah, slim week, although I'll be picking up Buffy with great eagerness, and Atom, Robin and Metal Men with only slightly less glee. I'm interested in Annihilation: Conquest largely because the Star Lord mini was such a home run. I also think the Order is an unassuming little pearl in the hellish swamp that is Civil War. But I seem to be alone in that opinion.
I'll be getting FF# 551 (McDuffie/Pelletier) and Mystic Arcana: Sister Grimm (Cebulski/Noto).
ReplyDeleteSadly, COnquest was written by Giffen, who can do no wrong lately. Conquest will be written by Abnett/Lanning who very much CAN do wrong.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I haven't encountered much of Dan Abnett's output, but I'm just now reading his Nova books and they're pretty okay I think.
ReplyDeleteGotta go with all the Iron Fist lovin' going on around here :)...
ReplyDeleteAnd Annihilation.
Allow me to second Criminal and Fraction's The Order which has been by far the best thing to come out of Civil War. And of course, Iron Fist.
ReplyDeleteLong time reader and first time commenter.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with all the Iron Fist compliments. Brubaker/Fraction are writing a fun and complex story about the history of Iron Fist. Add Aja's art (with all it's Steranko and Mazzucelli riffs) and it is a must read.
But it is sad to read that Supergirl didn't make your list. While I feel this comic has been a cauldron of lousiness so far, I am hoping that the new team is able to make Kara likeable. No way this reaches the excellence of Peter David's run. But at this point I'll take a mediocre Supergirl over a crappy one.
I'm sensing a lot of Danny Rand love in this room...
ReplyDeleteIRON FIST is the most important thing that happens to me each month. If I had a long distance girlfriend who flew in once a month, I would still say that IRON FIST was the most important thing that happened to me each month.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll love it, though we are sorta mid story arc right about now.
Three words:
SUMO THUNDER STOMP!!!
SILVER SURFER: IN THY NAME seems like a semi-big-deal, as well. I will have it. Of course, it's a mini-series and you can always wait to see how the reviews are and buy the trade.
ReplyDeleteAdd one more vote for Iron Fist. Brubaker&Fraction are doing it right. Doesn't fill the MOKF emptiness I feel every month, but still gives me that squishy feeling.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love Brubaker and Fraction separately, I didn't enjoy the first Iron Fist arc too much. Whether I finally "got it" or the book just magically got better is hard to say, but Iron Fist might be the best mainstream comic coming out right now.
ReplyDeleteThe Order is a little slow, but I think it's also going to be dynamite in the second arc.
Omega is a *must*.
And shoes! You can *never* go wrong buying new shoes!
The Immortal Iron Fist.
ReplyDeleteBecause nothing says awesome like a fat man barrelling through 100 Shaolin Terror Priests screaming "SUMO THUNDER STOMP!"
After Messiah Complex, I'm looking to grab Brubaker's Uncanny this week. After 7 years after I left the X-Men with the Neo story line, I'm excited about the world of X for the first time in a long while.
ReplyDeleteBuffyGrooAstonishingX-MenAcmeNoveltyLibrary... damn, no Scott Pilgrim.
ReplyDeleteThere's a new ACME? Even though I haven't enjoyed it since the Jimmy Corrigan arc ended, I still feel obligated to buy them.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Ridiculous. Acme is still greatness.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that the ANL book coming out this week is a Previews Exclusive poster book, not the next 'issue'.
My pull list for this week is:
Astonishing X-men #23
Omega the Unknown #2
Y: the Last Man 59 (penultimate issue...)
Infinity Inc #3 (Milligan!)
and Criminal #10.
Big week for me.
I swear I have no idea what people are seeing in Omega.
ReplyDeleteI'd recommend Cairo from Vertigo by G. Willow Wilson. We did a podcast with her this week.
