That Next Great Movie Idea

Where to find ideas for movies:
NEW IDEAS ARE TOO RISKY!!!

  1. It's weird isn't it? Everything these days seems to be either a prequel/sequel to an existing property or a relaunch of an old television show or comicbook. It was fun at first but I miss the inventive genius that brought us films like Explorers, Big Trouble in Little China, Flight of the Navigator, Escape From New York, and Star Wars(the original trilogy). These days everything just feels regurgitated and uninspired.

And it's odder still that I--a comicbook fan and one who doesn't mind having his sense of nostalgia pandered to--has to point this all out. I know, I'm scared too. . .brrr. . .

  3. 2007 and 2009 have been the worst examples in recent memory. At least the even-numbered years still manage to include a few brain-dead, idiotic original summer blockbusters.

Other than going to see Up, I probably should have sworn off this summer's crop. But you know — you can't skip the movies! They're a vital part of the shared consumer experience that binds us together and gives us something to talk about. They're absolutely essential if you want to be a relevant part of the conversation.

    For a week.

    HA-rumph.
