You know, if Green Arrow were a little more creative, he'd have let Superman cut off his arm back during the Eden Corp thing, and would have done something like that. Good guy and all, but not so creative.
My brother and I first saw all three Evil Dead movies in one of those old theaters that occasionally does special theme nights. It was several years ago and I didn't know what to expect, but I was a horror movie fan, so the first movie was okay.
But then the second movie went on and Ash is actually FIGHTING the demons and then we get to that perfect scene right there and it cemented its place as my favorite movie for a few years after that.
Bruce Campbell is the man, and putting a chainsaw on your cut-off hand is nothing short of GROOVY.
This movie was a find for me back in the '80s, but "Army of Darkness" played out Ash, and the superior "Braindead" replaced the franchise in my heart. "Dead Alive" was just blessed with an abundance of motherlove.
-The guy who wore the "Marshal Law," "Aliens," and "Dick Tracy" shirts in junior high... with a mullet!
They didn't change anything; that was the *original* line! Reportedly, Bruce Campbell prefers it to the clearly-superior replacement line, "Good, bad, I'm the one with the gun."
The Army of Darkness/Xena crossover book was surprisingly delightful. I look forward to the sequel where Xena and Gabby get stuck in modern times with Ash.
Evil Dead rules. I'm the biggest Bruce Campbell whore. I'll watch any TV show or movie 'cause he's in it...and most of the time they rock. Other times, they're Alien Apocalypse.
Evil Dead is one of the best franchises. I've gotten various editions of the DVDs, the games, the books, the comics despite their mostly mediocre beginning, some of the other merchandise...the figures not so much. Too overpriced for glorified GI Joes.
I even went to the stage production before it left NY. I recommend to any Deadheads who haven't seen it to go see it if they get the chance. It's a great blend of all three movies and utterly hilarious. When the first song hit I thought it was gonna be a cheesy mess, but it really worked. My best memory was when the dude playing Ash said "This is my BOOMSTICK!" and the place just went WILD! That kind of energy and being a part of it, awesome. I even bought the soundtrack. Songs aren't AS funny without the visuals, but still a riot.
"Groovy."
ReplyDeleteAnd I still want to look at Evil Dead & Xena series. It can't be any worse than the last few seasons of Xena, right?

ReplyDeleteheck, most people in Italy don't even know what 'Evil Dead' is...
I bought Army of Darkness on DVD over here. They changed one of my favorite lines: "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun" to "I ain't that good."
ReplyDeleteTore me up inside.
I haven't seen the Evil Dead flicks, though. But I do love the look of admiration in Ash's gf's eyes when he gets ready to crank up the chainsaw.

Thehefner, that's the absolute first time ever that Bruce Campbell has disappointed me.
ReplyDeleteOh well, the guy still has an amazing track record to fall back on.
