Justice League Movie RIP

CHUD reports that according to Joel Silver, that Justice League movie without Christian Bale, Brandon Routh, or at the very least @^&$# Tom Welling has been "tabled."

No tears here. With crossovers between Marvel's Hulk & Iron Man movies, I think the stakes have been raised. You can't have two cinematic Batman or Supermen running around at the same time in movie theaters - one set big-budget and one set more "low rent." What they had planned for the Justice League movie sounded good enough only for a TV movie. It would have been overkill.

Why not do a "World's Finest" with Bale and Routh first and see how that goes?

  1. Yeah, I said from day one we'd never see this. 'course, I also said that about Watchmen. So maybe I don't know nothin'.

  2. Maybe the creative team shouldn't be approaching this as one movie. Maybe it should just call its' shot on a trilogy right off the bat. Would that help lure Bale and Routh, you think?

  4. It's kinda hard to top the animated first pairing of the two (that movie so rocked!), but one way to do it would be to modify the opening arc of Superman/Batman some. You know, taking out all of the Loeb wackiness and the elaborate subplot that made no sense until TWENTY FIVE ISSUES LATER.

  5. I'll add my vote to "World's Finest" movie too. That's the only Superman stuff I own in the DC Animated Universe. (Though I may make an exception for the Justice League stuff when money allows).

World's Finest FTW...I would SO be there, especially if the villain was Darkseid. Intergang in Gotham City...?

  7. Or have World's Finest be the first movie, then a Justice League sequel.

It's too bad Wonder Woman hasn't had her movie yet, because if she had, then the Big 3 could have been the sequel with Justice League rounding out the trilogy.

  8. Instead of a full blown Justice League, why doesn't somebody out there in Hollywood think of doing a "Trinity" style story with just the Big 3 to get the ball rolling.

You already have Bale and Routh, one more unknown to play Diana and you're there.
