I haven't read New Avengers Annual yet and don't even know what happens, but I do trust in Bendis. He's a *really* good storyteller. I'm certain Tigra will have things going her way soon enough.
Or, you know, we could collectively pull another Millar "Spider-Bitch" overreaction and start going crazy insane over a story that hasn't even been told yet. Either way is fun!
I vote for overreaction, as being sensible is saying "Bendis takes no fun in beating up a non-existent person in comic form - if he actually did hate her, he could just have her shot in one panel and never have to deal with her ever again." That's just nowhere near as entertaining as saying "Bendis is everything that's wrong with comics!!!" over fives pages' worth of forum and blog posts.
When I want rational, informed and considered opinion and debate, I'll watch CNN - but when I want rabid overreactions to the most minor efforts to get people looking at funnybooks coupled with death-threats and blood-boiling levels of outrage, I come to the internet, because that's what it's for.
Plus, we're talking about comics here. Y'know, where, in one post, people talk about Superdickery, Capdickery, etc., and then in the very next complain about how the good old days of when heroes acted like heroes are gone forever and everyone's a dick now.
Oh I'm sure the writer who'll smack the holy hell out of both Luke Cage and Jessica Drew is just waiting in the wings for his or her chance. . .
I do agree that we all do need to take a step back and breathe from time to time. It's fun to be passionate about your hobbies and all, but at the end of the day it's just funnybooks.
You didn't like what happened to the Character out of NA annual 2 today?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what other plans Bendis has for her.
oh no he made her a new avenger, what an insufferable fate
ReplyDeleteFanTAStic.
ReplyDeleteLike what Bendis is doing or not, I think it's more than a little silly to say Bendis has it in for her." Way to lampoon!

I didn't hear an over-reaction to Spider-Beyotch. I heard a shuffle of a collective, single raised eyebrow.
ReplyDeleteBryan...funniest post I *ever* read! I'm soooo stealing your post to use whenever I get the opportunity!

Well, Tigra's preferred outcome did seem to happen. So, good job gal.
