Characters I Kinda Dig: Rocket Raccoon

22 comments:

  1. I absolutely loved the character's 1985 mini-series illustrated by Mike Mignola as a kid, and am happy to see him being utilized by current talents, even if if boycotted all Marvel product as of late. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is one of the books I actually regret not buying because of it.

  2. Which is all well and good. Until we realized how impressionable, psychotic raccoons were strapping rocket skates to their feet and shooting lasers at REAL clown robots.

  3. Do you remember the old Mike Mignola Rocket Raccoon? One of the best comics Marvel ever made.

  6. Rock and Cosmo were the two main reasons I picked up the GotG book. I think a mini-series is needed with the two of them, yes?

The Mantlo/Mignola mini from the 80's was actually alot of fun. Bill Mantlo created the character earlier, and only recently has Rocky been treated as seriously.
    SUPERhellacool, he is.

  8. Mmmmmm, this seem like a kid friendly animal carrying a gun and blasting aliens.

I think as person you have a responsibility and should ask for a ban of this characters. Oh wait, you can't it belong to the company giving you're pay check. Oh dumb me....

  9. I too dig Rocket Raccoon. I miss his old look though; nobody tops Mignola.

  10. I kid, but I am the proud owner of a well-read and well-worn Rocket Raccoon collection as well. It's been terrific having him back in the new cosmic stuff for Marvel, even if I miss the clowns, rocket skates, et al...

  11. I always thought Gamora was the coolest character in Jim Starlin's Infinity trilogy.

  12. The League,

I remember an old Norm Macdonald stand up routine where he complained about not being able to buy spring shoes any more because they found a kid at a bottom of a cliff holding a sign that said "Yipe!"

  13. All right. I'm sold.

Gotta read Annihilation first, don't I?

  14. Rocket Raccoon being in the same book as Bug from the Micronauts, Mantis and a talking Russian dog...just makes me smile a goofy smile.

  16. If anyone had told me that I would be lovin a title with Rocket Racoon and Groot a year ago I would have accused them of being back on the pipe. There are 1000 reasons why Gaurdians of the Galaxy shouldn't work but it does and remains at the top of my pull list.

  17. Bug from Micronauts . . . hard to believe he's a toy-line character that survived this long.

  18. I would remind you all Rocket Raccoon stood up to The Hulk. We must all kneel before him and offer him apple cores and comical fish skeletons.

  19. Cute raccoon + naive child = vaccination needle in the stomach.

Bored teens + leftover fireworks + yappy rat terrier + skateboard = rocket raccoon + YouTube video.

Personally, I'm more of a Screwball Squirrel fan.

OMG!! How could I love raccoons (they are soooooooo cute!) and have been reading comics for 20 years and just now learned about a major (okay, that's being generous) raccoon character like this?!

Well thank you for pointing him out.
