"Because He's The Goddamn Jason Todd"

I wouldn't worry about Donna, though. I mean, dying every couple of years is practically part of her job description.

In short, I do not see this so much as a "fridging" as merely a temporary stay in one of those styrofoam coolers you take to the beach.

Besides, I still hold that at the end of "Final Crisis" there will be some variation of a rebooting and it all won't matter anyhow. Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

  1. why kill characters to bring them back then kill them again (ahem Ollie, although it was a fake out)...

    but still...

  2. The end to this week's Countdown was pretty awesome! With that cliffhanger, I can't wait until next week's issue. It has been a long, long time since I've read a comic where I had no idea what would happen next. You guys are really missing out on a wild read.

    Final Crisis, here we come!

you know, if Dan Bizzle turns out to be Dan Didio that's going to be one pretty damn funny trick :-)

    (just kidding DB)

  4. I don't think she's dead. they said she'd be in the new Titans title coming out.

  5. Yeah, she's on the cover and in the solicits and even in some preview art for a bunch of upcoming C-List Monitor Posse storylines in Countdown and the various one-shots, plus she's in that upcoming Titans book. I am pretty sure being shot with a vague energy gun as a cliffhanger in Countdown doesn't mean anything at all, and when the art for issues 26 comes out it will be revealed that what REALLY happened was Jason leaned in and whispered "pretend this really hurts" before giving her a killer Indian Burn.

  6. "Well, you could have some of my Jimmy Olson, Mary Marvel, death, Donna Troy, Jason Todd, death and Kyle Rayner, that's only got a bit of death in it."

    "But I don't like death!"

"Me, I'm having death, death, death, death, death, death, death, the New Gods and death! I love death!"

At some point, I'll have to dig out my Monty Python script book and just do the whole sketch. :)

  7. No, no, OS, I'm not DiDio. Although, I think I would kill for that job.

Just showing my love for an underlooked and much maligned future classic. Not sure where the hate all started, or why; but thankfully it can't deter my enjoyment of this book. Isn't that partially what being a comic fan is all about?

And, of course Donna isn't dead, but what a great cliffhanger nontheless! What's going to happen next? Just loving it.

  8. Wait, danbizzle...you'd kill *for* that job, while Didio constantly kills *on* the job? That's either alanis morisette irony or more evidence that you actually are Didio. I kid, of course.

Jason turning on Donna...at the end of the first half of the year of Countdown. Is that the best they could give us? Not that I wanted a "bigger" death, or even a death at all, just *something* less obvious/more interesting. Maybe reveal a little more about Darkseid's involvement instead of just having him play chess and kill prostitutes?

  9. She really needs a reusable headstone.

"RIP Donna Troy. Down For Origin Story Maintenance. Sorry For Any Inconvenience"

  10. I'm loving that panel. Donna's pain, so contextless though it is, it's great to see her getting shot even if yeah, Donna Troy is supposedly better than Death or whatever...
