(One of those was Cliff Chiang.) So it can happen. Of course, HR will favor the things HR departments everywhere favor, rightly or wrongly: relevant experience, a degree from an impressive college, a neat and professional resume and cover letter.Stuart Moorehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14275736024834321182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566450.post-61753243878037895032008-07-13T15:57:00.000-04:002008-07-13T15:57:00.000-04:00Dude I am all over that. You may be better off trying to get in touch through a Monster ad, oddly, or definitely through personal contacts.

It's all to do with who eventually gets to see your resume - you apply through this and its likely straight to corporate HR who haven't got the first clue about what makes a good editor. Monster may - may - end up going to someone internal at DC (but likely the same corporate idiot that does this) - but if you've got a contact inside editorial already, they can usually bump someone up the list by showing it to the editor you'd be working for.Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06435582231180905967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25566450.post-1220086421335327452008-07-11T23:59:00.000-04:002008-07-11T23:59:00.000-04:00I'd imagine an assistant editor has a chance of be...I'd imagine an assistant editor has a chance of becoming a full editor or, at least, in a better position to pitch a new series if they've been around enough. Would the person who gets that job really have any power to affect change or be involved creatively or would they just have to rubber stamp everything?
